Bio
Poorna Shah, DPT, is a licensed physical therapist treating patients at Holsman Physical Therapy, which has locations throughout New Jersey and New York City. She has expertise in treating pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, especially those with complex medical conditions.
Poorna received her Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Maharashtra University of Health Science in Nashik, Maharashtra, India. She then completed her Master of Health Science in Neuromuscular Rehabilitation at the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Poorna received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Utica College in Utica, New York.
In India, Poorna worked as a physical therapy intern at Mathadi Hospital Trust, Navi Mumbai Municipal Hospital, and Natural Burns Center all located in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
She continued this role at Sahyadri Super Speciality Hospital, Hadapsar in Pune, Maharashtra, and Chetana De-addiction Centre in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Poorna was a volunteer and then pediatric physical therapist at Dr. Rekha Shanbag’s physiotherapy clinic in Santacruz East, Mumbai. Here, she worked with children to assist them in functioning successfully independently at home, in school, and in community environments.
In the United States, Poorna worked as a physical therapist at Kindred Healthcare at Ellicott City Healthcare Center in Ellicott City, Maryland, and Fayette Health and Rehabilitation Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
She continued her role as a physical therapist in long-term and acute care at Kindred Hospital New Jersey-Wayne in Wayne, New Jersey.
Poorna has facilitated rehabilitation for patients with a wide range of conditions, including orthopedic, vascular, neurological, oncological, and psychological ailments.
Poorna is cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)-certified and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
She looks forward to bringing a broad range of treatments and services to Holsman Physical Therapy, with a focus on restoring functioning in patients and easing disability.
